Sustainable Built Environments & the UN's Sustainable Development Goals

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations are an urgent call for all developed and developing countries to join in a global partnership.  The SDGs recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand in hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality and boost economic growth – all while combating climate change and conserving our natural resources and biodiversity.  As a member of the UN Global Compact, the World Green Building Council reports on its progress towards the SDGs.  Its global network of Green Building Councils (GBCs) in over 70 countries has prioritized 11 SDGs to encourage sustainability in the built environment by mobilizing the building and construction sector towards SDG-aimed sustainable development.
