What does asset coverage mean?

In regards to a class of senior security representing indebtedness of an issuer, the ratio which the value of the total assets of such issuer, less all liabilities and indebtedness not represented by senior securities, bears to the aggregate amount of senior securities representing indebtedness of such issuer, in accordance with the US Investment Company Act of 1940.
