What does style box mean?

A 9-box grid used to illustrate how the investments of a bond fund are distributed by credit quality and average maturity or how the holdings of a stock fund holdings are distributed by primary investment style (growth, value, or blend) and market capitalization category (large-, mid-, and small-cap companies).
