What does trading security mean?

A debt asset or marketable equity asset of an entity in which the investor has neither significant influence nor controlling interest, that is held with the intention to buy and sell in the short term and that is initially recognized and measured at original cost (fair value) – unrealized holding gains and losses are subsequently recognized at fair value through net income (FV-NI) as operating income or expense during that period.
